What is Screen Resolution?
Screen resolution refers to the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed on a monitor or screen. It is usually quoted as width × height, with the units in pixels.
Display Size
The total number of pixels on your screen. Higher resolution means sharper images and more workspace.
Aspect Ratio
The proportional relationship between its width and its height. Common ratios are 16:9 and 4:3.
Pixel Density
Measured in PPI (Pixels Per Inch), it determines how "packed" pixels are on your physical display.
Understanding Display Terms
- Device Pixel Ratio (DPR): The ratio between physical pixels and logical pixels. Retina displays have a DPR of 2 or higher.
- Color Depth: The number of bits used to indicate the color of a single pixel. 24-bit color is standard.
- Available Resolution: The part of the screen available for your browser, excluding system bars like the taskbar.
